History Of Computer

History of computer

Classification base on memory size-

There are five types of computer-
1. Micro computer (1 to 4 MB)
2. Minicomputer (4 to 12 MB)
3. Super minicomputer (1MB to 80 MB)
4. Midi or main frame computer (2mb to 128 MB)
 5. Maxi or super computer (8MB to 10 GB)

Generation of computer

First generation of computer:-
First generation (1950)
(The first electronic computer is created in Japan by Hideo yamchito. Konrad Zuse completed and sold the Z4 on July 12, 1950. The computer became the first commercial computer.)
1. Vacuum tubes
2. Very large size.
3. Very slow speed.
4. Less memory capacity.
5. Less reliable.
6. Very costly.
Second generation of computer:-
Second generation (1960)
1. Transistor(as compare to first generation)
2. Small in size
3. High speed
4. More reliable
5. Increase memory capacity

Example- IBM-1401, IBM-1620
Third generation of computer :-( 1965)
1. Small and medium scale
2. Small in size
3. High speed
4. More reliable
5. Increase memory capacity

Fourth generation of computer (1975)
1. Medium and large scale
2. Small in size
3. High speed
4. more reliable
5. Increase memory capacity

Fifth generation of computer :-( 1980)
1. Microprocessor circuit. (As compare to fourth generation.)
2. Small in size
3. High speed
4. More reliable
5. Increase memory capacity.

Difference between computer and man:-
Man-
Man has own memory.
Man has production capacity.
Man can do any work itself.
Man tends to make error.
Man gets tired of working.
Computer-
Computer has artificial memory.
It has no production capacity
It cannot do any work itself
It works accurately.
It doesn’t get tired of working.
Difference between computer and calculator:-
Computer-
Computer has high memory capacity.
It is used in different fields.
It can print.
It is expensive.
It has data storage device.
Calculator-
It has low memory capacity.
It is used only for calculation.
It cannot print.
It is cheap.
It has no storage device.
Difference between impact and Non-impact printer :-
Impact printer: -
It is used in especially government branches.
Its printing cost is cheap.
In this printer noise is created during printing.
Output quality of this printer is not so good.
Dot matrix is the example of this printer.
Non-impact printer:-
It is used in especially private section.
Its printing cost is expensive.
In this printer no noise is created during printing.
Output quality of this printer is very attractive.
Laser, Inkjet and others are the example of non-impact printer.
